The Red Squad
Dial V for Vintagerama! For this third episode I gathered:
Iskra ATA 11 telephone
This automatic rotary dial phone was produced between 1956 and 1960. Made of bakelite, came in different colors. It was used for a very long time and was part of most of the households in the Yugoslav countries. Manufactured by Iskra, Kranj, Slovenia.
ЕЛКА 51 (ELKA 51) calculator
This green LED display calculator was produced in the 1980s by Orgtechnica, Silistra, Bulgaria. This particular one comes from 1989. As you can see it is made of plastic and it uses AC power instead of batteries. It was produced in different colors.
East German metal flashlight, probably produced in the 1950s and 1960s. Uses 4.5V battery and I’ve seen it in red and green color.
Ohrid Lake I
A panoramic photo i took in February. Lake Ohrid, Macedonia.
Just got back from a great musical performance by Mulatu Astatke at OFFest. I’ve been a fan of his music since I watched Broken Flowers back in 2005. Mr. Astatke was kind enough to sign books after the show. Macedonian band Foltin (with guests) also had an exquisite appearance preceding Mulatu.
